Our first Birman was a rescue, found wandering the local woods, with no form of identity. She became a temporary resident in our home whilst her owners were sought. Despite all efforts to trace her owners, nobody came forward. So a permanent home was needed. She made it very clear she had no intentions of moving out and therefore she officially adopted us.
A name for her had to be chosen, There many suggestions, “Lucky” (she had been found), Bramble, (in the woods), then it became obvious what she should be called, Mona. Since moving in she had told us how we as her new owners should behave to her requests for attention, cuddles and feeding. When she wanted something she would come and have a chat, if you ignored her demands she would carry on with her loud purring and meowing until you gave in. It always sounded as though she was having “a moan” hence Mona. This is where our Prefix Formona originates. Many occasions I have been heard to say “if is wasn’t “for Mona” I would be doing …….”.
From that day on there has been no looking back. The next addition to the family was a Seal Show boy called Meadwell Christmas Cracker (George). He was our first Champion and Premier show boy, followed by our first breed girl Meadwell Katie Valentine (Katie) who gave us beautiful kittens, of which some went on to successful show careers but more importantly they are all treasured and loved pets.
